Leaders of the VAVA Central Committee presents livelihood support and gifts to families of Agent Orange victims in Can Tho city.

At the event, VAVA presented 50 gift packages, including VND 1 million in cash and essential goods, and four livelihood support packages, each worth VND 10 million to the recipients.

The delegation also worked with the Can Tho city chapter to review its performance in 2025 and preparations for the 1st Congress of the chapter for the 2026-2031 term.

Currently, the chapter has 19,639 members and the city has 13,366 victims of Agent Orange. In 2025, the chapter has carried out many practical activities, including information dissemination sessions, and direct support to more than 2,157 victims with over VND 1.25 billion. It also helped build and repair charity houses, gave financial support for production and business of victims in difficult circumstances. Additionally, it supported 843 victims, poor people, and persons with disabilities; and constructed a rural bridge worth VND 1.15 billion.

Addressing the working session after the gift presentation, Sr. Col., Dr. Pham Xuan Hung, VAVA Vice President and Director of the Fund for Victims of Agent Orange, praised the efforts of the Can Tho chapter, especially in the context of the city operating under a two-tier local administration model. Despite difficulties, the chapter has pro-actively advised local Party committees, authorities, and the Fatherland Front to quickly stabilize its organization and effectively carry out victim support activities.

An overview of the working session

In the coming time, the chapter will continue consolidating its organization, expanding its support network for victims, coordinating activities to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange Disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - 2026), and promoting social welfare programs as well as mobilizing resources to assist victims in a practical and effective manner.
