Particularly, IFRC will organize activities to help flood-hit people build or repair their houses, stabilize their livelihoods, cover basic needs, and protect their health.

In October, torrential rains caused human and property losses in various Central localities of Vietnam. As a member of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the Vietnam Red Cross Society has immediately conducted various activities to help people in the region overcome natural disaster consequences. Particularly, from October 20 to 23, the unit joined other forces to estimate the losses and assess the needs of people in storm-hit localities, including Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, and Quang Ngai, so as to develop a suitable support plan.

Representatives of the Vietnam Red Cross Society share hardships with flood-hit people.

President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu emphasized the need for assistance from the community for flood-hit people. She said that as flood water recedes, people need to soon stabilize their lives and resume their normal activities. Meanwhile elderly people, children, those with disabilities and illnesses, and other vulnerable people in the region need immediate health check-ups.

Thu said that the community should join hands with the local governments and schools to repair and clean up schools and provide teaching and studying supplies to help local students return to school. The Vietnamese and foreign governments, businesses, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to help flood-hit people soon stabilize their lives and develop their livelihoods.
