The annual activity of the VRCS was to ease blood shortages in local hospitals which usually happen in the end of the year, and to celebrate the 73rd founding anniversary of the VRCS.
Addressing the festival, VRCS Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu said that last year the nation mobilized and collected over 1.4 million blood units from many big blood donation drives.
Although the amount of blood collected in recent years is increasing, blood shortage is still found in some provinces and cities, especially during the Lunar New Year and summer holidays every year.
This year’s festival attracted the participation of over 500 people, including officials and volunteers, and is expected to collect at least 300 blood units.
