People join blood donation day in Hanoi
PANO – The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in association with the Hanh trinh do (Red Journey) Club, the Vietnamese Volunteer Community, and the Hanoi Association of Youth Blood Donor Recruiter held a blood donation day in Hanoi on June 9.
The event aimed to promote dissemination on the importance of voluntary blood donation, so as to mobilize the community to donate their blood in a bid to ease blood shortage for patient treatment at hospitals during summer and at the same time honor active blood donors.
During the day, the participants said that the volunteers’ good deeds to save other people’s lives encouraged them donate their blood. They also expressed their happiness that their blood could help those in need.
Held for the first time in 2015, the event has collected around 2,000 blood units after four editions. This year, the festival day is expected to receive around 300 blood units.
