In Bac Quang district, in the new house which has just been built, Mr. Phu Van Sinh, a Pa Then ethnic in Nam Su village, Tan Bac commune, told us with excitement that his family received VND 40 million from the province’s housing construction support program for poor and near-poor households. Together with their savings, after a month, the construction was completed.

Also receiving the similar support, Dang Van San’s family from Ngan Ha village, Tan Thanh commune has built a new house. He held that his family is now in stable living conditions to overcome poverty.

Tan Thanh commune has the largest number of people receiving housing construction support in the district. According to Chairman of the commune’s People’s Committee Phan Van Vinh, in 2023, there have been seven households receiving financial support to build new houses, showing the care of the Party and State towards the poor and near-poor households in the locality.

One of the households benefited from the program is Ly Van Thong’s family in Lung Ang village, Phu Linh commune, Vi Xuyen district. Thong also sent his thanks to the Party and State.

In Meo Vac district, the poor household of Giang Chu Sau from Cho Do village, Giang Chu Phin commune was given VND 44 million from the budget of the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to build a new house.

The Ha Giang provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No.2223 on December 7, 2022, to approve the housing project for poor and near-poor households in the seven districts of Bac Me, Xin Man, Hoang Su Phi, Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Meo Vac, and Dong Van. The total number of households receiving support is 9,628, including 8,574 poor households and 1,054 near-poor households, with a total fund of VND 327.26 billion extracted from the Central and local budgets.

As scheduled, there will be 5,399 households in Ha Giang province benefiting from the project. By the end of October 2023, the total number of households supported had been 3,642, reaching 67.4% of the set target.

Deputy Head of the Ethnic Committee of Ha Giang province Duong Van Thanh noted that the ethnic minority people all support the program, hoping that the local authority would accelerate the progress of the implementation of the program.

The implementation of the housing program is part of the National target program for sustainable poverty reduction and National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountain Areas in the 2021-2030 period. In the first phase from 2021-2025, the project has contributed to raising the locals’ living conditions, while enhancing their trust in the Party and State, local authorities so as to effectively implement the sustainable poverty reduction target in the province in the coming time.
