GDP chief extends Tet greetings to former Party, State leaders
PANO - On February 1, in Ho Chi Minh City, General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), visited and extended Tet greetings to former Party and State leaders on the occasion of the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - 2026) and the upcoming 2026 Lunar New Year.
The GDP chief visited former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and General Le Hong Anh, former Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat.

Accordingly, General Nguyen Trong Nghia inquired after the former leaders and wished them a prosperous and happy new year. The GDP chief expressed deep gratitude for the significant contribution made by former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and General Le Hong Anh to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, as well as to the consolidation of national defense and security and the building of the military.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and Ministry of National Defense, General Nguyen Trong Nghia briefed the former leaders on the country’s socio-economic, defense, and security highlights in 2025 and key tasks for the coming time. He affirmed that the achievements gained today are partly due to the important contribution of the former Party and State leaders.

Former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and General Le Hong Anh thanked the Party, State, CMC, and Ministry of National Defense for their care. They expressed their belief that under the Party’s leadership, officers and soldiers across the entire military would continue to maintain their political stance and absolutely be loyal to the Fatherland and the people. They also hoped the troops would improve their capabilities and combat readiness, deserving the trust of the Party, State, and people.
