Medical staff providing emergency aid for the patient

Fisherman Do Van Hai, aged 43 from Phu Quy district, Binh Thuan province, a crew-member of trawler numbered Bth 99197 TS, which was fishing in the waters near Da Lat Island (Ladd Reef), slipped and fell, leading to multiple trauma. Immediately, the trawler took him to the medical center in Truong Sa townlet for emergency treatment.

At the center, the patient was diagnosed with multiple trauma, wounds in the scalp and hands, hematoma in the left thigh and knee, and right arm nerve pain. After the medical examination, the center’s doctor had an online health consultancy via telemedicine system with medical experts of Military Hospital 175. As a result, the doctors concluded that the patient was at risk of amputating his right arm due to neurovascular injuries.

Then, the center’s doctors performed surgery and sutured the wounds. His right leg was in a plaster cast. At present, he is in a stable health condition and is closely monitored by the doctors.

Earlier, trawler Bth 99197 TS, with five crew-members on board, went adrift due to a main engine failure while conducting fishing activities in the waters near Da Lat (Ladd Reef) Island. Knowing this situation, Ship KN410 of Fisheries Surveillance Squadron No.4 rushed to the scene and towed the troubled trawler out of the sandbar safely.
