Contest to promote reading habit among vision-impaired people concludes
PANO - The Library Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Blind Association on June 28 jointly organized an awarding ceremony for the reading contest 2020.
Launched at the beginning of June 2020, the contest attracted the participation of visually-impaired people, their relatives, and members of the Vietnam Blind Association, and its chapters nationwide.
The competition creates a playground for visually-impaired people and members of their families to exchange reading experiences and audio books, thereby offering more opportunities for them to access information and knowledge, and improve their reading skills.
The contestants submitted articles and photos of their families for the topics of “Books - Starting off with love,” “Books – Flying high with Your Dreams,” and “Books - Intellectual development.”
The entries confirmed the good values of books for a person development, thus contributing to building a prosperous and happy family, and creating cohesion among families' members, especially in families of people with visual impairment.
The first prize went to Nguyen Manh Hung from Binh Thanh, HCM City, while two second prizes were presented to Nguyen Van Hoang from Hanoi, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc from Soc Trang province. The organizing panel also awarded five third and 12 consolidation prizes to other winners.
