Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau provincial People’s Committee, visits the communes of Tan Bang and Bien Bach Dong to assess the program’s implementation.

Vice Chairman of the Thoi Binh People's Committee Tran Minh Nhan reported that the district has 725 makeshift and dilapidated houses listed under the program — 619 needing new constructions and 106 requiring repairs. Beneficiaries include 209 families of revolution contributors, 260 poor households, and 227 near-poor ones. Besides, 29 homes under the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas are also entitled to the support.

Total cost of the program in Thoi Binh exceeds 40 billion VND (1.57 million USD).

So far, the district has started construction on 197 homes, completing 168, equivalent to over 23% of the target. More than 9.5 billion VND has been allocated to local communes.

Nhan noted that each eligible household receives 60 million VND in financial support, which only covers basic construction. However, the program has seen strong public participation, with beneficiaries contributing additional funds, labor, and materials. More than 3 billion VND has also been mobilized from the community to improve housing quality.

Visiting Tan Bang and Bien Bach Dong communes to assess the program’s implementation, Vice Chairman Luan urged Thoi Binh district to swiftly address obstacles and accelerate progress to ensure completion by June 30, 2025, as directed by the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee. He called for regular monitoring of construction quality and adherence to standards.

Highlighting the program’s significance in improving living conditions, he asked for greater mobilization of social resources to enhance housing quality.

As of early March 2025, Ca Mau had started construction on 1,888 houses - 42.9% of the total target - with 1,339 already completed. The province has allocated over 127 billion VND for the program, of which nearly 92.5 billion VND has been disbursed, reaching 72.63% of the target.

Ca Mau is among the 10 best performers nationwide in implementing the substandard housing elimination program. The province is determined to basically complete the work by June 30 this year.
