He asked the Vietnam Farmers’ Union to act as a key force in the tree-planting campaign, and to encourage its members to do the work, contributing to a green, clean and beautiful environment.
After the launch ceremony, Vuong and other delegates planted trees at a tomb dedicated to Kinh Duong Vuong, a Vietnamese legendary historical figure who is considered to be one of the forefathers of Vietnam and who helped unite the local tribes some time before the reign of the Hung Kings.
On this occasion, the organizers presented 20 gifts to poor households in Thuan Thanh district.
* On the same day, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union started the “2018 Youth Month” themed “Innovative youth building the country” and the 2018 Tree-planting Festival.
In his speech, Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, a member of the Secretariat of the PCC and head of the PCC’s Organization Commission, emphasized the need to further attach importance to and enhance educational activities on the revolutionary ideal, patriotism, national pride, cultural lifestyle and consciousness among youths.
After the ceremony, the participants, including over 2,000 youths planted part of 11,000 Casuarina equisetifolia trees (sometimes known as ‘Australian Pine’), gifts from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, in the hope that the local environment will be further protected while the public’s awareness of environmental protection will be raised, thus creating green, clean and friendly tourism facilities for tourists to the province.
Last year, Vietnam Airlines and the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee joined hands in organizing a variety of social activities to support the poor and help plant 50,000 green trees in order to improve the local environment.
* As many as 5,000 pine trees were grown by over 800 youth union members along the coastal street named Nguyen Tat Thanh in Thanh Khe district, Da Nang city, by the Municipal Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Organization.
* After the tree-planting festival launch ceremony in a production site in Xuan Canh commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi, Unit 871 under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army planted nearly 100 fruit trees.
Such an annual festival has become a cultural feature of the unit, attracting the participation of a number of the unit’s cadres, troops and workers.
