Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrives at the 4th Party Congress of the EVN Party Organization for the 2025–2030 tenure held in Hanoi on August 10.

He highlighted the Party and State's recognition of the EVN's role and contributions to national development, as well as high expectations on the firm's performance in the future

In the previous tenure, despite significant challenges, the group had completed its tasks, ensuring stable electricity supply for socio-economic development, national defense, and security; posting an annual electricity growth of 10–15%; and contributing up to trillion VND (915.15 million USD) to the State budget each year.

The EVN made major strides in digital transformation during 2021–2025, enhancing operational efficiency and productivity. Investment during the term totaled nearly 514 trillion VND, including the commissioning of 962 transmission projects spanning nearly 18,000 km of power lines and 88,000 MVA of transformer station capacity. Notably, the 500kV Quang Trach–Pho Noi transmission line was completed in just over six months.

PM Pham Minh Chinh commended the group's efforts in overcoming difficulties, changing mindset and enhancing efficiency, as well as its 1.26 trillion VND contribution to social welfare.

However, he pointed to a number of shortcomings of the sector, including a lack of competitiveness in the power market and electricity prices.

He asked the EVN to focus on preventing and combating wastefulness and corruption, while maintaining solidarity and building a pure and strong Party Organization.

Along with ensuring power supply to production, business and people's daily activities, the EVN must address all of its shortcomings and limitations, he underlined.

He tasked the EVN with becoming the third-largest power utility in Southeast Asia, developing the Laos - Vietnam 500kV transmission line, contributing to the creation of an ASEAN power grid, and maintaining its central role in national industrialization and modernization.
