White book on Vietnam’s information and telecommunications technology

The book includes 11 sections and provides an overview of Vietnam’s information and telecommunications industry in terms of infrastructure, post and telecommunications, IT application, human resources, and information security. It also gives information about the country’s legal documents and international cooperation related to these fields.

The book has been updated with many new contents including an overview of the IT sector’s development over the past 10 years, an introduction to the project to make Vietnam an IT power, and analyses and reports on the sector, said Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong.

In the spotlight is information about the number of telephone subscribers across the country which is estimated at 126 million, and the tremendous growth of IT, software and service industries, which fetched over US$1 billion in 2010, four times higher than in 2005.

So far, every school in the country has access to the internet, and nearly 100 percent of communes have landline telephones. The number of IT workers has doubled from 150,000 in 2006 to 260,000 in 2010.

The Vietnam White Book on information and telecommunications technology will be delivered to ministries, sectors, localities, IT agencies, and IT-related foreign organizations.
