On June 19, Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army led a delegation to visit the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the Vietnam News Agency, the Voice of Vietnam, the Whole People Defense Journal, the People’s Army Cinema, the Military Arts and Literature Journal, the Military Culture Journal and the Veteran Newspaper.
At the meeting with the units, General Can highlighted the contributions of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the press and media to disseminating military and defense missions as well as the building of the army and nation. He affirmed that their coverage of military activities have contributed to the building of a revolutionary, regular, elite and increasingly modern army.
He asked the press and media to work with the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department to thoroughly embrace situational developments to provide accurate up-to-date information to orient public opinion. Meanwhile, military press and media agencies should unite, overcome all challenges and promote their creativity to have quality press and media products reflecting performances of military units.

On the same day, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee held a meeting to mark the important day of Vietnamese journalists and launched the 14th “For National Great Unity Cause” press awards. At the event, Hau A Lenh Vice President cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee affirmed that over the past time the Vietnam’s revolutionary press has well covered the agency’s activities, making positive contributions to the building of the national great unity bloc.
At a meeting in Hanoi, representatives of the press and media highlighted socio-economic achievements over the past time and affirmed that they will continue popularizing activities in the capital city in the coming time. Appreciating journalists’ opinions, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee expected further cooperation of the press and media with the city to contribute to building a civilized and prosperous city.
Meanwhile, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held a ceremony to award three first, five second, seven third and ten consolation prizes to people with outstanding articles on youths and children related activities. This year, the organizing panel received 648 entries reflecting various aspects of life and young people’s activities in localities across the country.
To mark the 94th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Military Region 1 Command launched its online version on website: www.baoquankhu1.vn and kicked off a press award encouraging journalists in the region to write articles on the glorious tradition of the military region’s armed forces, beautiful virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period and exemplary figures in its emulation movements.
On the occasion, the Chemical Corps honored outstanding collaborators for covering its activities, while the Political Department of Military Region 2 held a training course for its press contributors.
Highlighting active contributions of the press sector to its achievements over the past time, the Saigon Newport Corporation hoped that the press and media will promote dissemination on its task performance.
