PANO - Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Nguyen Thien Nhan attended the National Great Unity Day in Hoa Lac A hamlet, Luong Hoa A commune, Chau Thanh district, Tra Vinh province, on November 8th on the occasion of the 85th traditional anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18th, 1930-2015).

The locals recalled the glorious revolutionary history of the Vietnam Fatherland Front over the past 85 years, and emulation campaigns encouraging people to build cultural life in the residential areas.

In his speech, the VFFCC President hailed the locals for gradually escaping from poverty. Accordingly, nearly 16 per cent of the hamlet’s households are now living in poverty, while 40 per cent of them are middle and high-income households.

He suggested more solidarity and assistance in production via cooperative models to help impoverished households escape from poverty. In addition, support in transferring technology, borrowing capital, and consuming products is also needed.

Highly appreciating the locals’ contributions to constructing 1,300m of traffic road and building the hamlet as a cultural centre over the past time, the VFFCC President asked the local leaders to put forward more action programs and encourage poverty reduction, as well as maintain the title of cultural hamlet in the years to come.

On the occasion, the VFFCC President presented 30 cattle to impoverished households in Chau Thanh district.
