Reports delivered during the seminar emphasized that Vietnam, since its foundation, has had three historical and cultural spaces of the North, the Central and the South.
The Central region, with close and logical combination of geographical, historical and cultural factors, is famous for its Sa Huynh and Champa cultures. The Sa Huynh culture belongs to the Iron Age dated from the mid-first millennium BC to early AD. In this culture, society had classes and the first state was formed. Until the second century, Tuong Lam people launched an uprising to overthrow the rule of China to found a country named Lam Ap. The states of Lam Ap and Hoan Vuong in the region despite numerous ups and downs were powerful states, ruling the vast highlands and the East Sea.
Therefore, the historical and cultural space of the Central region has constituted from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan the coastal areas, the Truong Son range, the imposing Central Highlands, Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.
