The environmentally friendly bags have been freely delivered at supermarkets in Hanoi as part of activities in response to a campaign to minimise the use of nylon bags for a better environment.
Five supermarkets in the city participated in the campaign themed “Hanoi – Sunday no nylon bags” on August 21.
The move aims to raise public awareness of adverse impacts of nylon bags on the living environment and encourage consumers to use environmentally friendly alternatives such as paper or synthetic fibre bags, helping change their habit of using nylon bags in their daily life to protect the habitat and the community’s health.
The campaign was launched by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment with this year’s main event being a meeting at the Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi on October 2.
The meeting will be followed by a series of activities such as a bicycle ride, a walk around Thien Quang lake, free delivery of environmentally friendly bags and collection of nylon bags.
From now to the end of the year, all 29 inner and suburb districts of Hanoi will organise activities to raise the campaign’s efficiency and affirm the city’s determination to improve the environmental protection, contributing to promoting the image of Green-Clean-Beautiful Hanoi.
