The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Armenia Friendship Association (VAFA) co-hosted a friendship exchange celebrating Vietnam’s 70th National Day and the Armenia’s 24th Independence Day in Hanoi on September 5.

In his speech at the event, VAFA President Nguyen Van Thuan said the exchange contributes to tightening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries towards a prosperous future for both nations.

He stated that generations of Vietnamese people continually bear in mind the valuable support provided by the Armenian state and people to Vietnam in its past struggles for independence and territorial integrity, stressing that the assistance helped lay an important foundation for the bilateral relations.

Vietnam and Armenia have elevated their partnership and win-win cooperation in a number of fields and signed agreements that created a legal framework for their connections, Thuan said.

The two countries have continued to expand their cooperation in the recent years with the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Armenia is a member, he added.

Speaking at the event, Third Secretary of the Armenian Embassy to Vietnam Arsen Kotanjyan praised the VUFO for its proactive activities in recent time, affirming that the embassy will continue its support to as well as work closely with VAFA to organise events, contributing to promoting affiliations between the two countries and peoples.
