Cambodia highly values Vietnam’s renewal process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and affirmed to continue implementing signed agreements between the two countries.
President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate, Samdec Chea Sim affirmed this during meetings with State President Nguyen Minh Triet and the National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on November 26.
At the meeting with State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Mr Chea Sim briefed him on results of talks with Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and affirmed that the two sides will consolidate and strengthen co-operation in all fields.
Mr Triet congratulated the CPP on its success in the general election, saying that it demonstrated the prestige of the CPP and its president Samdec Chea Sim. Mr Triet expressed his belief that the success of the visit to Vietnam will help strengthen traditional relations between the two countries.
During the meeting with NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, Mr Chea Sim expressed his hope that the two parliaments would support each other in regional and international forums for the development of each country.
Mr Trong highlighted Mr Chea Sim’s visit to Vietnam, describing it as another step forward in the process of building friendly and comprehensive relations between the two countries.
Mr Trong said the Vietnamese NA will do its utmost to make co-operation between the two NAs more effective and accelerate exchange visits to learn from each other experiences.
