A winding road leads to Bach Ma mountain which is found in Bach Ma National Park, and is located about 40 km from the center of Thua Thien - Hue city. After buying tickets, tourists can rent a car from the gate of the National Park and drive about 20 km to the Hai Vong Watch Tower, the highest point of Bach Ma mountain.
Bach Ma is the only primeval forest in Vietnam running from the sea to the Vietnam-Laos border. The area also has a number of abandoned villas, which used to be recreation centers for French officers and the upper-class of Thua Thien - Hue province.

The rainy season usually lasts from September to December. During this period, the trail to the mountain can become quite slippery so visitors are advised to follow the instructions of experienced tour guides.

Bach Ma National Park has an acreage of 37,500 ha, and is home to a diverse range of landscapes that include mountains, forests, waterfalls, and streams. The area hosts more than 2,300 floral species, and 1,700 faunal species.
Leaving the Hai Vong Watch Tower, visitors can travel approximately five kilometers through the forest to get to Ngu Ho lake, a site famed for its cool and crystal-clear water.
Between March and April, visitors have the opportunity to see the maple leaves turning red, creating beautiful scenery for the National Park. There are many 100-year-old maple trees in the yards of ancient French buildings.
