PANO - On May 23, about 70 million voters cast their votes at more than 80,000 polling stations all over the country. The election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 period is considered one of the most special elections in the history of Vietnam.

This year, Vietnam, for the first time in 75 years since the first election, set up special polling stations in hospitals and quarantine areas to ensure that medical workers and quarantined citizens could exercise their voting rights while conducting COVID-19 prevention and control missions. In hospitals and quarantine areas, the pandemic prevention and control measures were strictly carried out.

In Bac Giang province, where the COVID-19 pandemic is still complicated, election council members cycled to local people’s houses to collect votes.

Thanks to thorough preparations, the election in Quang Ninh province ended successfully, while ensuring absolute safety. In mountainous and border areas and on islands, voters cast their ballots as regulated.

Mobile ballot boxes were brought to active-duty troops.

Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue evaluated that the election, in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19, demonstrated the Vietnamese people’s trust in the Party and State.
