A State-level welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese NA Chairwoman was officially held at Seong-nam Airport.

After the ceremony, the visiting NA leader and her entourage visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul and had a meeting with the staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese expats there.

Talking with them, the NA Chairwoman affirmed that Vietnam and the RoK are enjoying a relationship better than ever before, reflected in the fields of politics, economics, trade, culture, education and people-to-people exchange.

She carefully took note of the queries and recommendations given by the Vietnamese expats in the RoK and promised to pass these opinions to relevant agencies to handle them.

She expressed her hope that the Vietnamese community in the RoK would seriously observe the local laws, promote unity and support each other to overcome difficulties and improve their lives while regarding the Vietnamese Embassy in RoK as their common home.

She asked the Ambassador and the staff of the embassy to well implement their function of citizen protection and render effective support for Vietnamese expats in the country.

The NA Chairwoman also acknowledged and praised the whole staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK for their considerable achievements in their work over the past time, and on behalf of the Party and State, she presented a “Labor” Order of the second class to Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tu for his special merits in the period of 2011-15.

Earlier on the morning of December 5, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had a meeting with representatives of Vietnamese-Korean families (with a Vietnamese spouse) in Busan, RoK.

Having been briefed on the situation of the Vietnamese community in the city, particularly the lives of local Vietnamese brides, she expressed delight as a large majority of the Vietnamese-Korean families in the city lead a happy life, and local Vietnamese expats always turn toward the homeland. She considered that Vietnamese expats in RoK are an important bridge connecting the two nations and promoting sustainable cooperation and development between the two countries. 

In response to local Vietnamese expats’ requests on Vietnamese books for their children, the NA Chairwoman assigned the NA Office to soon deliver course-books for students at all school grades, books on Vietnamese culture and history, Vietnamese fairy tale books to centers teaching the Vietnamese language and culture in the RoK.

Before leaving Busan for Seoul, Vietnamese NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan visited Pukyong National University and was presented by the university with an Honorary PhD Degree in Politics.

She also had talks with Vietnamese students who are studying at the university.
