The competition brought together 13 teams with 86 athletes representing a wide range of Vietnamese agencies, businesses and community organizations in Laos.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam highlighted the August Revolution in 1945 and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam on September 2, 1945 as landmark events in the nation’s history, ushering in an era of independence and freedom and laying the foundation for Viet Nam’s development and enhanced stature and potential today.
He said that the celebration provides an opportunity for Vietnamese representative agencies and people in Laos to recall the nation’s proud traditions and express profound gratitude to late President Ho Chi Minh, revolutionary predecessors, fallen soldiers and all those who devoted and sacrificed themselves for national independence, freedom, peace and reunification.
For Vietnamese people working, studying and living in Laos, national holidays serve as a reminder that wherever they are, they remain part of the Vietnamese nation and share the responsibility of maintaining solidarity, looking toward the homeland and making practical contributions to national development. They also have an important role in fostering the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Viet Nam and Laos, and between their two Parties, States and peoples, Tam added.
