Tran Van My has become the first Vietnamese in Laos awarded the 65-year Communist Party of Vietnam membership badge.

At the award ceremony in Vientiane on November 5, Ha Anh Dan, vice secretary of the Party Committee in Laos, congratulated My on the honour and hoped he will continue making contributions to the Vietnamese community in Laos as well as to the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
My was born in 1929 in Vientiane. In 1944, he participated in the Vietnam-Laos fighting alliance and six years later was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party .
In 2000, My was awarded the 50-year Party membership badge by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
