Present at the event, which was jointly held by the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, were General Le Duc Anh, former Politburo member and former State President; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), permanent member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and Deputy Defense Minister; Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, PCC’s member, Deputy Director of the GDP; representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, veteran revolutionaries; representatives from central and local agencies and departments and from Thua Thien-Hue province and General Nguyen Chi Thanh’s family members.
The seminar pointed out that Gen. Thanh always learnt and followed President Ho Chi Minh’s noble revolutionary morals and devoted his life to the national resistance war and construction cause. He set an example for generations, especially youths.
Over 30 reports rich in information sent to the seminar reaffirmed and further clarified great contributions of Gen. Thanh to the Party’s and Army’s revolutionary cause.
Addressing the event, Gen. Nghia emphasized that Gen. Thanh is an typical revolutionary of the Party and State, a talented general and an outstanding political military talent of Vietnam.
General Nghia affirmed that Gen. Thanh’s name and career was closely attached to victories of the Vietnamese revolution in the anti-French war and the first stages of the anti-American war for national salvation and to the development of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), and underscored Gen. Thanh’s important devotion to the building of a stronger VPA.
As the first Director of the GDP, Gen. Thanh organized and directed the building and development of the GDP and made significant contributions to developing theories on building army in politics, agricultural cooperative movements and other fields. Gen. Thanh was one of President Ho Chi Minh’s distinguished disciples who had a scientific working style and close relationship with people and comrades, Gen. Nghia added.
Saying that speeches and opinions at the seminar were valuable documents for research and information dissemination to make younger generations know more about Gen. Thanh’s good morals, life and career, Gen. Nghia urged the army to actively study and apply outcomes of studies on Gen. Thanh in education, training, organization building and force building in an effort to meet the requirements of the current missions.
Within the framework of the seminar, an exchange with historical witnesses and historians was held to clarify Gen. Thanh’s glorious revolutionary career, and recall memories of and deep sentiments for Gen. Thanh.
The general’s family on this occasion presented the relic site some documents related to Gen. Thanh.
