Party General Secretary To Lam pays tribute to the 10 female youth pioneers at the national special historical relic site of Dong Loc Junction in Ha Tinh province on December 29.

The Dong Loc Junction, located in Dong Loc commune of Can Loc district, was an important transport intersection on the legendary Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail, through which trucks carried soldiers, food, arms and munitions from the North to support the battlefields in the South.

On July 24, 1968, while levelling bomb craters, 10 female youth pioneers were killed by bombs from the U.S. troops. Their sacrifice remains immortal and became a symbol of the significant dedications by millions of young Vietnamese people who devoted their lives and youth to the national liberation and reunification. The site also witnessed thousands of soldiers, volunteers, traffic workers, drivers and innocent civilians fall down.

The relic site is now a proud and sacred "red address" for educating generations of Vietnamese people on the revolutionary tradition, patriotism, and national pride. It also symbolizes the noble spirit of revolutionary heroism.

The same day, the Party leader also paid tribute to first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Tran Phu, Party General Secretary Ha Huy Tap, and physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac at their tombs in Duc Tho, Cam Xuyen and Huong Son districts, respectively.
