The 16 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors were collected during the 2021-2022 dry season by Martyrs’ Remains Search and Repatriation Team 192 under the Thua Thien Hue provincial Military Command.

At the event, delegates, local leaders, armed forces, and people paid respect to the eminent sons of the nation who sacrificed themselves for national independence, socialism, and noble international duties in Laos.

Showing deep respect to the fallen soldiers, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong said that after peace was restored, the whole country in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular have striven to address war legacies and carried out gratitude activities, especially the search, collection, and repatriation of remains of fallen soldiers.

This is an important and urgent mission, demonstrating the current generation’s sentiments, responsibility, and gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the revolutionary causes of Vietnam and Laos, the official added.

He emphasized that those noble sacrifices have urged the local authorities and people to obtain more achievements in building a stronger nation as President Ho Chi Minh wished.

After the memorial service, the remains of martyrs were reburied at the War Cemetery of Hue city.
