16 sets of remains of fallen soldiers reburied in Gia Lai
PANO - Gia Lai province’s political organizations held a memorial and burial service on May 18 at the War Cemetery of Duc Co border district for 16 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who laid down their lives in Cambodia during the war.
The remains of the fallen troops and advisors were found in three Northeastern Cambodian provinces of Ratanakiri (3), STung Treng (8) and Preah Vihear (5) by Search and Collection Team K52 from the Gia Lai provincial Military Command from October 22, 2019 to April 3, 2020.
This is the 20th dry season that the team has surmounted difficulties and crossed all terrains in Cambodia to search and collect remains of fallen Vietnamese troops and advisors.
So far, Team K52 has repatriated 1,428 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives while serving international duty in Cambodia. The team has received great support from the governments of the two countries, authorities and people of the three aforementioned Cambodian provinces, the Military Region 1 Command of the Vietnam People’s Army, and the Military Region 4 Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
