Voluntary club for environmental protection launched in Hanoi
PANO – A voluntary club for environmental protection was set up in Thuong Thanh Ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi, on August 13, in response to the municipal authorities’ guidelines on building models of environmental protection across the city.

The club’s establishment aims at gathering farmers, staff, and troops of the local armed forces to voluntarily protect their surroundings and at the same time to raise public awareness of environmental protection.
Nearly 200 people, including troops of Regiment 280 of Air Defense Division 361, and the Institute of Propulsive and Explosive Propellants under the General Department of Defense Industry of the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense, and a number of locals, registered to join the club on the launch day.
The club is scheduled to hold a monthly meeting of its members and mobilize locals to conduct campaigns of environmental protection such as “Ngay Chu nhat xanh” (Green Sunday) or “Ngay Chu nhat khong tui nilon” (Non-plastic Sunday).
During the launch day, the club’s members trimmed nearly 550 trees and cleared over three kilometers along Ngoc Thuy street after two hours working together.
