Vietnam Coast Guard Command delegation conducts social activities in Dien Bien
PANO - A delegation of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, led by its Political Commissar Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, paid a courtesy call on leaders of Dien Bien province on April 12 on the occasion of their presence in the province to conduct social activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
While receiving the delegation, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Van Tien expressed delight at welcoming delegates to the province to organize the “I love national sea and islands” contest and other activities in the province prior to the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
Tien took the occasion to brief the visiting delegates on the outstanding socio-economic development outcomes of the province over the past time; its strengths and plans on investing in key projects; its policies to attract investment. He also emphasized the province’s efforts in carrying out military-defense missions, ensuring political security and public order, and preparing for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

At the meeting, Gen. Oan congratulated the province on its outcomes gained over the past time and reviewed outstanding achievements of the coast guard force over the past 25 years of construction, combat, and growth.
The political commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command emphasized that the “I love national sea and islands” contest has been organized since 2013 in many localities across the country and obtained positive results. Apart from holding the contest, the Vietnamese coast guard force has over the past 11 years presented 4,452 scholarships, 1,887 bicycles, and 2,688 gifts to policy beneficiaries; provided free health examination for more than 2,673 people. This program has contributed to building firm whole people’s defense disposition in combination with the people's security posture and people’s heart disposition.

On the occasion, through the provincial people’s committee, the delegation handed over 100 gifts, worth VND 100 million in total, to policy beneficiaries in Dien Bien Phu city and Dien Bien district.
The same day, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command’s delegates visited and presented gifts to families of two veterans in Dien Bien Phu city.
