Troops help mountainous people overcome natural disaster consequences
PANO – Economic-Defense Mission 356 of Military Region 2 has mobilized more than 20 troops to help people in Northwestern localities overcome the consequences of recent hailstorms and whirlwinds.

Troops helped locals repair their damaged houses, evacuated local residents living in areas with a high probability of landslide, searched for missing people and took care of injured people. In addition, the unit also presented VND 1 million to families seriously affected by hailstorms and heavy rains and encouraged them to get back to their normal life.
Earlier, hailstorms accompanied by whirlwinds and heavy rains wreaked havoc on Mu Sang and Dao San communes and other localities in Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province. The storm left two dead, one missing and another injured.
The natural disaster also ripped off the roofs of hundreds of houses, damaged hundreds of hectares of crops and killed hundreds of poultry and cattle. The losses are estimated to be billions of VND.
