Addressing the gift-presentation ceremony on January 6 in Tay Ninh province, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue asked the provincial leadership to continue promoting local socio-economic development and implementing the national program on sustainable poverty reduction as well as responding to the movement “Whole country joins hands for the poor; no one is left behind.”
* Also on January 6, a mission from the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, led by its deputy director Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia, visited and extended Tet wishes to troops of Division 5 under Military Region 7 and the Tay Ninh provincial Military Command.

General Nghia expressed his delight at the two units’ task accomplishments last year. Wishing a happy Lunar New Year to the troops, General Nghia emphasized that during Tet, troops should heighten vigilance, continue demonstrating a high sense of combat readiness, and be determined to complete all assignments.
Units were urged to be active in ensuring a happy, healthy, safe, and economical Tet for troops while carrying out gratitude activities in the stationed areas.
On the occasion, the mission gave 15 gifts valued at VND 2 million each to local heroic Vietnamese mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, and policy families.
Earlier, they paid homage to fallen troops at the War Cemetery of Tan Bien district, Tay Ninh province.
* Fifty-five AO victims facing difficulties in Can Tho city received Tet gifts worth VND 1.150 million each from the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Vietnam, Can Tho city, and other sponsors.
* 1,000 disadvantaged and orphaned children in Ho Chi Minh City on January 6 were entertained with numerous interesting activities, such as lion dance, art, circus, magic and talent shows, to name but a few.
During the program, themed “Tet for you,” launched by the Red Scarf Newspaper, participating children were presented with lucky money, basic necessities, coupons for lunch, and tickets to KizCiti Children Park.
