One of two missing fishermen found after Storm Koguma
PANO – The Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command found one of the two missing fishermen in Thanh Hoa on June 14 after Storm Koguma, the second storm that hit the country since early this year, announced the Search and Rescue Division of the Staff of the Vietnam Border Guard Command.

Reportedly, at 19:00 on June 13, trawler QNg 02538 TS, captained by Hoang Viet Dung (born in 1979) from Tay Son Dong village, Duy Hai commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province detected a raft going adrift at sea with fisherman Le Duc Duong (from Hai Hoa ward, Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province) on board.
Having received the information, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command sent Ship CN09 with 15 troops, led by Flotilla 2’s Second-in-Command Officer Captain Truong Xuan Bich, to approach trawler QNg 02538 TS to support the rescue mission.
At 6:00 on June 14, they approached the trawler and brought the distressed fisherman on board. Initially, his health was stable.
The Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command then mobilized Ship ST750 of the Border Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port to bring Duong ashore and hand him over to his family. Meanwhile, Ship CN09 would continue its search and rescue mission for the remaining missing fisherman.
Earlier, the Nghe An border force received information from their Thanh Hoa peers about the two distressed rafts run by Le Duc Giang (born in 1985) and Le Duc Duong (born in 1987), both from Hai Hoa commune, Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province, had gone missing at sea.
Immediately, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command directed relevant forces, in coordination with local authorities and fishermen at sea, to locate the two distressed rafts.
