Addressing the event, Political Commissar of the Naval Region 5 Command Rear Admiral Nguyen Huu Thoan shared that during nearly half a century of construction and development, the region has received the support of people and authorities across the country. Especially, over the past 10 years, the unit has worked with relevant organizations to bring 210 delegations to visit troops and people living and working in the Southwestern waters. They have helped share difficulties with troops and people in the areas, built many projects and provided necessities to the troops.

He expressed his hope that the journey would help delegates understand more about situation over national sea and islands, while disseminating information about national sea and islands as well as the cause of national protection of armed forces in the areas, thereby raising public awareness of the national sea and islands. These activities would also contribute to encouraging troops to overcome difficulties to excellently accomplish all missions assigned by the Party, State and people.
On the same day, the delegation left Phu Quoc city, starting their sea journey to the islands of Tho Chu, Hon Khoai, Hon Chuoi, Nam Du, and Hoc Doc. They are scheduled to end the journey on January 20.
* In the framework of the Tet visit to DK1 platforms at Phuc Nguyen bank on the Southern continental shelf of the country, a delegation of the Naval Region 2 Command held a memorial ceremony in commemoration of fallen soldiers who sacrificed themselves when performing tasks in the area.

During the ceremony, the delegation offered incense and flowers to the martyrs.
After that, the delegation visited and presented Tet gifts to troops on DK1 platforms. Due to harsh weather conditions, they could not reach the platforms; therefore, Deputy Political Commissar of the Naval Region 2 Command Senior Captain Tran Hong Hai and the delegation sent Tet greetings to troops on the platforms of DK1/15, DK1/11, DK1/12, DK1/14 via the walkie talkie. He also acknowledged the troops’ achievements over the past year.

Senior Captain Hai wished them good health to fulfill their assigned tasks, requesting them to overcome difficulties to ensure combat readiness during Tet holiday.
Troops of Ship Truong Sa 04 transported Tet gifts of the Defense Ministry, Naval Service, Naval Region 2 Command, DK1 Battalion, and local authorities to the platforms and ships on duty.
