MR 5 ready to welcome Vietnamese citizens from COVID-19 affected areas
PANO – Following the direction of Commander of Military Region (MR) 5 Lieutenant General Nguyen Long Cang, the military region has taken measures to protect its troops’ health and to be ready to welcome Vietnamese citizens returning from the areas affected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
Accordingly, the Da Nang Municipal Military Command and the region’s Military School have made thorough preparations at four quarantine places which can accommodate up to over 2,000 patients. The Municipal Military Command also directed its relevant units to closely collaborate with the local police to ensure security for the transport of returning Vietnamese citizens from Da Nang International Airport to the quarantine zones.

Major General Nguyen Dinh Tien, Deputy Commander of MR 5 and head of the military region’s steering board for COVID-19 prevention and combat, said that all units have fulfilled preparations are now ready to welcome around 5,480 Vietnamese citizens returning from COVID-19-affected countries. He noted that the quarantine places are located far from densely populated areas and the military region deploys 83 vehicles for the transportation. Each patient in the quarantine areas will be provided with a food ration worth VND 57,000 daily, he added.
Meanwhile, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command fulfilled preparations and are ready to welcome approximately 200 citizens while collaborating with the local health sector to observe the epidemic developments. Senior Colonel Bui Dai Thang, Commander of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command revealed that the process of receiving citizens will be implemented with the utmost seriousness.
The Quang Nam Provincial Military Command has mapped out numerous plans to respond to the outbreak of COVID-19, such as logistical supplies in quarantine places and the environmental hygiene of its barracks.
On behalf of the MR 5's leadership, General Cang affirmed that the military region will focus on the epidemic’s prevention and combat by making good preparations for welcoming the Vietnamese citizens.
The military region is also ready to deploy a field hospital at Regiment 733 of Division 315 in Quang Nam province while its Hospitals 17 and 13 completed preparations to cope with the epidemic.
