More support for anti-COVID-19 forces
PANO - The People's Army Newspaper (PAN) on April 10 presented 5,000 medical face masks and 17 infrared thermometers to troops of Kon Tum provincial Border Guard Command as part of the effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
These gifts, worth VND 40 million, were donated by Kon Tum Sugar Joint Stock Company through a program launched by the PAN.
Senior Colonel Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Commander of the provincial Border Guard Command thanked PAN and contributing enterprises for their support and stressed that medical face masks and infrared thermometers are important necessities to help troops prevent and control the COVID-19 disease in the border areas of Kon Tum province.
"These meaningful gifts contribute to encouraging border guard troops to completely fulfill their assigned tasks," he added.
The province currently has more than 292km of borderline with Laos and Cambodia, an international border gate, two secondary border gates, and many trails. Thereby, the prevention and control effort faces many difficulties, especially controlling border crossing activities.
Over the past time, the provincial Border Guard Command has set up 58 checkpoints along the Vietnam-Cambodia and Vietnam-Lao borderlines to strictly control cross-border activities. They have also promoted the dissemination of 2019-nCoV-related information to troops and people throughout the borderline areas.
The same day, PAN also presented 1,000 face masks to troops of Air Force Brigade 918 under the Air Defense and Air Force Service.
