The event, hosted by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, also drew the participation of Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Lieutenant General Tran Duy Giang, Director of the General Department of Logistics.

During the meeting, General Don reported that the MND and the Central Military Commission (CMC) have comprehensively implemented Directives No. 15 and No.16 of the Prime Minister in Covid-19 prevention and control. So far, no Covid-19 cases have been reported in the military.

Military units have prepared and built scenarios in response to the Covid-19 outbreak at higher levels while preventing the disease from spreading in their barracks. They have also continued to assist local people in the fight against the pandemic.

General Don highlighted that the ministry’s steering committee reviewed organization work in quarantine areas and promptly increased training for anti-Covid-19 forces.

In addition, military units have also preformed their tasks in receiving and serving quarantined people and worked with relevant agencies to address cases in violation of the quarantine regulations.

Further, border guards have also joined hands with relevant forces to closely control the shared borderline, contributing to ensuring security, social order, and safety in border areas.

PM Phuc acknowledged and highly valued achievements of the MND, considering the military the national leader in the fight against Covid-19.

He expects the military to continue making recommendations to the Party, State, and Government to implement Covid-19 prevention and control, actively take measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the military, and ensure good health for its troops.

Furthermore, they should strictly observe directions from the Prime Minister on this work and closely coordinate with relevant forces to successfully combat the pandemic.
