Having been reported on the situation, 30 troops and militiamen of the Military Command of Nam Nung commune braved heavy rains to help local people repair or rebuild their houses.

Thanks to good health and resourcefulness, within an hour, three militiawomen Trieu Mui Chuong, Phung Mui Luu and Trieu Mui Senh helped the families of Trieu Da Pao, Pham Quang Trong and Phuong Mui Khe in Tan Lap hamlet evacuate around three tons of rice, 1.5 tons of coffee, eight quintals of dried pepper, more than 30 pigs, and 16 cows to safer places.

After it stopped raining, under the command of the military command’s leaders, militiamen of the unit were divided into six groups to assist local residents in gathering their property and repairing their houses.

As an experienced electrician, head of the mobile militiamen platoon under the Military Command of Nam Nung commune Nguyen Van Phuong checked and repaired the electric power system, which was badly damaged by whirlwinds. He also helped locals fix their televisions and other electrical equipment.

Talking about her deed, militiawoman Phung Mui Luu said that as a farmer’s girl, she knew how to mix mortars, cut corrugated iron sheets, cut wood, build walls, and roof houses. She recalled that while repairing local people’s houses, local militia force always tried to make the most of available materials to reduce costs. She added, “In difficult situation, the military-civilian solidarity as well as the neighborhood spirit are always preserved and promoted.”

While visiting and encouraging natural disasters-affected families, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nam Nung commune Pham Van Hai was impressed by the enthusiasm of local militiamen. He emphasized that with the wholehearted support of militia force, all 12 households in Tan Lap commune could return to their houses.

The local leader said that the Party Committee and local authorities highly appreciated the spirit and responsibility of the troops and militiamen of the Military Command of Nam Nung commune. He recalled that many militiamen actively helped local people although their families were also affected by the heavy rain and whirlwinds.

After the rain, local militia force helped local residents dry their coffee, rice, crops; trim broken branches;  clean up the environment.
