The delegation offering incense to fallen soldiers at the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery |
In the two resistance wars against foreign invaders for national salvation and Fatherland protection, millions of eminent Vietnamese people, including ten thousands of women, laid down their lives on battlefields. Besides, thousand voluntary Vietnamese women joining the army were wounded and are still suffering pains of the war.
With the high sense of gratitude and bringing into play the national traditions of “When drinking water, remember its source”, and “Gratitude is the sign of noble souls”, military women have for many years now conducted gratitude activities, such as organizations of political activities to boost information dissemination and education of national history and tradition among women, joining hands to upgrade martyrs’ cemeteries, presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries, needy students with good academic records, taking care of Vietnamese heroic mothers, raising money to build gratitude houses, providing free health checkups, health consultancy, and medicines for fallen soldiers’ families, wounded and sick soldiers and revolutionary contributors in need.
Meaningful activities of military women have contributed to the effective implementation of the gratitude service of the society, partly easing pains of the war.
