In Bac Giang province, a front-line force to fight COVID-19 was established. Meanwhile, working groups from the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center and the Military Medical University continued taking COVID-19 testing samples.
Another mission from the Military Medical University in coordination with the Bac Giang provincial Center for Disease Control, the provincial Health Department, and Army Corps 2 practiced at testing rooms. Testing machines were also installed in the day to serve locals as quickly as possible. All doctors, nurses and technicians raced against time to put the machines into operation on May 20, with the capability of testing 7,000 samples per day.
Also, on the afternoon of May 19, more than 100 troops from Military Region 1’s Division 3 reached Bac Giang province to immediately work with local COVID-19 prevention forces to fight COVID-19. Apart from ensuring local security, the troops will cook 2,000 food rations a day for COVID-19 patients and other people under quarantine in the province.
Together with reinforced troops, local troops have also been actively engaged in COVID-19 prevention control. Regiment 831 sent three missions to cooperate with local medical forces to establish three field hospitals. It is quarantining over 200 people and ensuring security for the quarantine zone at Van Trung Industrial Park, which accommodates over 3,000 people.
Bac Giang provincial militia and self-defense forces also took a vanguard role in the COVID-19 fight. They are taking duties in lock-down, quarantined, and checkpoint areas to assist the medical forces. They are also joining the tracing of suspected cases and boosting information dissemination about COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
