This activity aimed to uphold the tree-planting movement and respond to the “For a Green Vietnam” program launched by the Prime Minister, thereby raising troops’ awareness of tree and forest planting as well as forest protection, contributing to mitigating natural disasters, reducing bad effects of climate change, and creating  green, clean, and beautiful barracks.

Currently, climate change, environmental pollution and non-traditional security challenges are causing negative effects on socio-economic development, defense and security work, and the people’s life. Therefore, tree and forest planting as well as environmental protection are urgent tasks.

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Trieu Trong Quyet, Deputy Director of the Department of Logistics under the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, required its agencies and units to further promote dissemination and education to raise troops’ awareness of the significance of tree and forest planting and heighten their determination and responsibility in responding to the tree-planting movement.
