Needy students in Dong Thap receiving gifts

The activity was part of the program themed “Accompany women in border areas.”

During the visit, the mission presented a house to Huynh Thi Nga, a needy woman in the district. The house was constructed with the total cost of VND 100 million, of which Military Region 9 contributed VND 60 million.

On the occasion, the military region’s delegates handed over 15 gifts to children who lost their parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic and 20 scholarships to needy students with good academic results.

In addition, the mission gave five savings books, worth VND 10 million each, to support children orphaned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The savings books were donated by units under the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.

According to Deputy Political Chief of Military Region 9 Senior Colonel Le Hoang Giu, although the gifts might not much in values, they demonstrated military women’s sentiment for women and children in border areas. Through the gifts, the military region expected to share hardships with localities in taking care of women and children in border areas, contributing to consolidating the relationship between troops and people and effectively implementing women union's work in the new period.
