Reportedly, from February 2012 to June 2021, youths in the whole military built 785 houses, worth from VND 50 million to VND 80 million each, for needy young troops, policy beneficiaries, and poor households.
Apart from providing financial assistance, troops also contributed hundreds of thousands of working days to build houses.
The “VND-100 House” model was launched in February 2012 to realize the Action Program of the 8th Congress of the Military Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for the 2012-2017 tenure.
According to the program, each member of youth union chapters of military units saved VND-100 a day to build houses for needy young troops, policy beneficiaries, and poor households.
They saved money by collecting recyclable waste, working overtime, quitting smoking, and turning off non-essential electric lights, among others.
