General Nguyen Tan Cuong pays tribute to former leaders of Party, State and military
PANO - On the occasion of the 80th foundation anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-people’s Defense Festive Day, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister, offered incense in tribute to former leaders of the Party, State and military on December 17.
In a solemn atmosphere, General Nguyen Tan Cuong paid his gratitude to former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former President Le Duc Anh; General, former Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap and General Chu Huy Man, former Politburo member, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs and former Defense Ministers, including General Van Tien Dung; General Doan Khue; General and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Phung Quang Thanh; former Chiefs of the General Staff, former Deputy Ministers of National Defense, such as General Hoang Van Thai; General Le Trong Tan; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Nghien and Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Bang, former Deputy Director of the National Defense Academy, who made great contribution to the cause of national liberation and protection and the building of the country and the military.

On the same day, the GS chief visited and presented gifts to former Defense Ministers, including General and Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Pham Van Tra; General Ngo Xuan Lich; former Vice Chairmen of National Assembly Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy and former of the General Staff and former Deputy Defense Minister General Do Ba Ty.
