At the event

During the two-day event, officers and soldiers of the Coast Guard Region 3 disseminated information about the national sea and island situation, national law, including the Vietnam Coast Guard Law and other legal documents related to Vietnam’s sea and islands, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Apart from information dissemination, the coast guards also presented 150 gifts to local policy beneficiary families and fishermen with adversity in life.

They also gave 2,500 national flags and 4,500 leaflets to local fishermen as well.

On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command visited and presented VND 6 million to two poor students with good academic records in Tam Thanh commune.

National flags presented to fishermen

Over the past years, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command has teamed with other provinces and cities nationwide, such as Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Phu Yen, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City to take care of thousands of policy beneficiaries and fishermen in need. They have also given support to various fishermen facing difficulties and having accidents and incidents at sea to continue to reach out to the sea.

The command’s “Coast guards support fishermen” program is practical and seen as a source of encouragement for fishermen to feel secure while fishing offshore, contributing to local economic development and to join hands with functional forces to firmly protect national sovereignty over sea and islands.
