Border guards enhance social welfare activities in border areas

PANO – Over the past time, border troops in provinces and cities have continued to strengthen and maintain a wide range of social welfare activities for people in border areas. From providing gifts to households with difficult conditions to organizing health check-ups and medical treatment for needy people, these efforts have contributed to beautifying the image of the border guards in the hearts of local people.

* On May 31, Vinh Chau Border Post under the Can Tho city Border Guard Command and charitable groups jointly held the “Joining hands for the poor – Leaving no one behind” program in Vinh Chau ward, Can Tho city.

During the program, the organizers presented 60 gifts to needy families and presented 80 gifts to disadvantaged students in Vinh Chau ward.

* On June 6, in Thanh An island commune, the Ho Chi Minh city Border Guard Command organized a conference to disseminate the contents of Directive No. 01/CT-TTg, issued by the Prime Minister on January 9, 2015, regarding the promotion of the movement encouraging all people to participate in safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and border security in the new situation.

On the same day, the force in coordination with a medical team and the Tu Tam Volunteer Group organized a program to provide free medical examinations, health consultations, medicines, and gifts to 150 people with difficult conditions and policy beneficiaries in the locality.

* On June 14, the Border Guard Training Center held activities in response to the “Green Sunday” campaign, with the participation of 150 officers, youth union members and young people in the unit.

The activities contributed to raising the awareness of troops and youths of building a regular and disciplined unit and preserving a green, clean and beautiful environment.

* Also on the same day, officers and soldiers of Dak Dang Border Post under the Lam Dong provincial Border Guard Command helped local people harvest rice in Dak Huyt village, Quang Truc commune, Lam Dong province.

Troops of Ly Son Border Post and Viet Nhi Kindergarten present gifts to needy students in the locality.

Meanwhile, Ly Son Border Post under the Quang Ngai provincial Border Guard Command and Viet Nhi Kindergarten handed over 40 gifts, including textbooks and notebooks, to students with difficult conditions in Ly Son special zone.

* On June 15, Nhon Ly Border Post under the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with the Women’s Union of Quy Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province, implemented the “Zero-VND Kitchen” program.

Troops of Nhon Ly Border Post and officers from the Women’s Union of Quy Nhon Dong ward distribute meals to patients with difficult conditions at Quy Nhon Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital.

During the program, they distributed 550 portions of vegetarian noodle soup to disadvantaged families in the quarters of Nhon Phuoc and Hoi Thanh, as well as poor patients receiving treatment at Quy Nhon Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital in the province.
