The officers and soldiers of Quynh Phuong Border Post under the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command approach the distressed vessel to conduct the rescue.

At around 7:45a.m. on May 20, while patrolling Lach Con estuary area (Tan Mai ward, Nghe An province), the post’s forces spotted trawler NA-73210-TS, captained by Pham Van Hieu, born in 1984, residing in Quynh Mai ward, heading to shore. About one nautical mile from the estuary, the trawler was swept away by strong winds and large waves, losing control and facing an imminent risk of sinking.

Immediately, the post dispatched a vessel with four officers and soldiers to approach the scene. Concurrently, the unit mobilized trawler NA-73248-TS, owned by Bui Van Manh, born in 1985, residing in Quynh Mai ward, to coordinate the rescue. The rescue forces successfully brought the distressed trawler and its crew-members safely to shore.

Given the unusual weather developments at sea in recent days, Quynh Phuong Border Post has stepped up patrols and controls at the estuary and at sea to ensure security and order, as well as to promptly detect and support fishermen in case of emergencies.

Notably, in just two days (May 19 and 20), the unit successfully rescued two fishing boats in distress, bringing many crew-members safely to shore.
