Border guards conduct activities for needy people in border areas
PANO - Whenever the lunar New Year comes, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command conducts various activities to take care of needy people and policy beneficiaries, contributing to ensuring a cozy Tet for people in border areas.
Recently, troops of Son Hong Border Post have coordinated with the Women’s Union chapter of Son Hong commune to make more than 450 Chung cakes under the “Green Chung cakes – Warm Tet for the poor” program. Then these cakes were sold to raise funds for Tet gifts for policy beneficiaries and families with difficult conditions.

According to Major Nguyen Xuan Hoang from Son Hong Border Post, the unit has spread this activity via various forms, thereby receiving the support of many benefactors. In particular, many organizations and individuals have donated cash and kinds and bought Chung cakes in large quantities. As a result, the program "Green Chung cakes - Warm Tet for the poor" earned more than VND 20 million.
Similarly, Ky Khanh Border Post has collaborated with Ky Phu Kindergarten in Ky Anh district to organize a border spring program and made 1,200 Chung cakes to raise fund for children with disabilities and disadvantaged children in the locality.
Ahead of the lunar New Year 2024, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command has teamed up with other forces to carry out a number of programs and models for needy people in border areas; organize the “Border spring warms up border people’s hearts” program in 41 communes, wards, and townlets in border and coastal areas in the province.
Senior Colonel Nguyen Thai Binh, Political Commissar of the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command, shared that during the Tet holiday this year, the command will present more than 1,000 Tet gifts and 900 Chung cakes to policy beneficiaries and needy families, as well as grant 73 scholarships to disadvantaged students. Meanwhile, the command will mobilize 180 troops to border and coastal areas to enjoy the Tet holiday with local people and ensure security and order in the locality.
