Earlier on December 25, Army Corps 18 received an urgent request to conduct a medical evacuation flight to take a 34-year-old female patient, who had an ectopic pregnancy, ashore.
Agreed by the Ministry of National Defense, the unit mobilized forces and the modern helicopter EC-155B1 numbered VN-8621 of the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company to carry out the mission. The helicopter took off from Gia Lam Airport at 11.30 p.m. and landed on Cat Bi Airport to pick up the medical staff of Hai Phong Hospital of Obstetrics before flying to Bach Long Vi Island.
After the medical staff had provided emergency care for the patient, the helicopter flew back to Gia Lam Airport, concluding the mission.
Despite flying at night and in unfavorable weather conditions, the flight crew flexibly dealt with circumstances to conduct a safe flight, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and the vehicle.
