The same day, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien visited and sent New Year greetings to the border commune of Mo Rai, Sa Thay district, Kon Tum province. The delegation handed over 200 gifts and 100 blankets to needy people and students in Mo Rai commune.
From January 9 to 14, Military Region 1 sent a delegation to inspect its units’ combat readiness observance; visited and presented gifts to policy families, needy households in remote areas, and ethnic minority residents.
Agencies and units visited and presented gifts to 2,521 policy families and needy households in 61 border communes and towns; 39 families of troops who are carrying out missions on Truong Sa Islands, DK1 Platforms, three convalescent centers, national contributors, 24 heroic Vietnamese mothers, hundreds of wounded soldiers and martyrs’ families.
In Long An province, the Secretariat of the Youth Union Central Committee, in collaboration with the Vietnam Labor Federation and Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (SABECO) handed over 8,000 gifts to needy workers with outstanding achievements.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Labor Federation worked with other units to hand over 500 tickets to needy workers who were going to return to their hometowns to celebrate lunar New Year with their families. On the occasion, the organizing panel mobilized businesses to present bus tickets to from 30,000 to 35,000 workers and held practical programs and activities.
From January 12 to 14, Se Re Pok, Bo Heng, Yok Don Border Posts and the Mobile Training Battalion under the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command worked with the Party Committee and authorities of Buon Don district to organize a New Year program for local people.
At the program, the organizers made more than 800 banh chung (square glutinous rice cake); presented 250 gifts, worth VND 300,000 each, to policy families, needy households, and students; handed over 73 scholarships to students.
