Vietnam’s naval ship participates in MNEK 2018
PANO - Hospital Ship 561 of the Vietnam People's Navy carrying military medical cadres and engineering troops left Cam Ranh Port in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on April 27 to participate in the 2018 Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2018 (MNEK 2018).
Under the theme "Cooperation for Natural Disasters Prevention and Humanitarian Assistance", the MNEK 2018 aims to strengthen friendship, build trust and enhance ability's coordination and cooperation between the navies of the countries on humanitarian assistance and maritime security issues.

This is the 3rd MNEK, held in Indonesia with the participation of the navies from ASEAN countries and other partners. Hospital Ship 561 (Khanh Hoa - 01) of Vietnamese Navy joined all the three exercises.
The Komodo 2018 multilateral naval exercise will be hosted by the Indonesian Navy from May 4 to 9 in islands of Lombok and Nusa, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.
Fifty ships, 14 helicopters and 15 fixed-wing aircraft from the Indonesian Navy, ASEAN countries and other partners will participate in the exercise.
The MNEK has been held every two years by the Indonesian Navy since 2014. The exercise was carried out at the initiative of Indonesia and agreed between ASEAN and its partner countries within the frameworks of ADMM+ (plus defense ministers from ASEAN’s partners), the ASEAN Naval Chiefs' Meeting (ACNM) and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
